V\u010faka \u0161v\u00e9dskym vedcom sa u\u017e vie, \u017ee za hrebe\u0148om opa\u010dne rast\u00facej srsti na chrbte ridgebacka je genetick\u00e1 mut\u00e1cia, a potvrdilo sa, \u017ee ide o autozom\u00e1lne dominantn\u00fd typ dedi\u010dnosti, zjednodu\u0161ene povedan\u00e9 \u2014 sta\u010d\u00ed, aby jeden z rodi\u010dov odovzdal potomkovi g\u00e9n pre ridge, a potomok bude ma\u0165, s najv\u00e4\u010d\u0161ou pravdepodobnos\u0165ou, na chrbte hrebe\u0148.&nbsp;Ridgeback s ridgom teda m\u00f4\u017ee by\u0165 <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>RR<\/strong><\/span>&nbsp;\u2014 dominantn\u00fd homozygot (m\u00e1 g\u00e9ny pre ridge od oboch rodi\u010dov) alebo&nbsp;<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Rr<\/strong><\/span>&nbsp;\u2014 heterozygot (g\u00e9n pre ridge m\u00e1 len od jedn\u00e9ho rodi\u010da). Rovnako sa vrav\u00ed, \u017ee ridge vyzer\u00e1 ako naje\u017een\u00e1 srs\u0165, ktor\u00e1 je medzi psami sign\u00e1lom agresivity, a preto sa ridgebacky st\u00e1vaj\u00fa bez pr\u00ed\u010diny obe\u0165ami \u00fatokov zo strany in\u00fdch psov, ale t\u00e1to te\u00f3ria asi potvrden\u00e1 nijak\u00fdm etol\u00f3gom nebola.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Na z\u00e1ver treba spomen\u00fa\u0165, \u017ee tento \u0161p\u00e1s na chrbte m\u00e1 aj odvr\u00e1ten\u00fa str\u00e1nku, preto\u017ee genetick\u00e1&nbsp;mut\u00e1cia pre ridge zodpovedn\u00e1 nielen za opa\u010dne rast\u00facu srs\u0165 na chrbte, ale aj za dermoid sinus (DS) &#8211;&nbsp;<span class=\"s1\">vroden\u00fd defekt na ko\u017ei (naj\u010dastej\u0161ie na ko\u017ei krku) v tvare nitkovit\u00e9ho kan\u00e1lika, ktor\u00fd m\u00f4\u017ee prerasta\u0165 a\u017e ku chrbtici. U in\u00fdch plemien psov sa vyskytuje ve\u013emi vz\u00e1cne, u RR a thajsk\u00fdch ridgebackov sa v jednom vrhu m\u00f4\u017ee objavi\u0165 aj viac postihnut\u00fdch jedincov. Chovatelia vykon\u00e1vaj\u00fa kontroly \u0161teniat hne\u010f po naroden\u00ed a v z\u00e1vislosti od h\u013abky kan\u00e1lika sa rozhodne, \u010di \u0161te\u0148a bude uspan\u00e9, alebo sa podrob\u00ed oper\u00e1cii. Ak sa DS chirurgicky neodstr\u00e1ni, m\u00f4\u017ee sk\u00f4r \u010di nesk\u00f4r sp\u00f4sobova\u0165 probl\u00e9my v podobe z\u00e1palov v mieste v\u00fdskytu, a ak je prepojen\u00fd s miechou, tak aj z\u00e1pal miechy a mozgu. Jedinec s DS sa v \u010fal\u0161om chove nevyu\u017e\u00edva.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">DS je pre m\u0148a nie\u010do ako potvrdenie toho, \u017ee ni\u010d nie je zadarmo, da\u0148 v chove za v\u00fdnimo\u010dnos\u0165.
